IF YOU ASKED ME 10 YEARS AGO…

…what I wanted to do, coaching wouldn’t have even entered my consciousness!

When I was in University, I thought I would end up as a Scientific researcher. My questioning as to whether this was my purpose began in between the time I received my Bachelors in Biochemistry and throughout completing my Masters in Laboratory Medicine and Pathobiology.

During that time, I had the opportunity to go deep into the yoga texts for close to 1.5 years and it (to my surprise) left me a changed person. Within a few months of doing my Masters, I realized with a start - my plan of becoming a researcher wasn’t anywhere close to what felt authentic and natural to me.

That said, I do have a pragmatic streak. After completing my Masters, I felt I needed a return on investment on the 7+ years I had dedicated to Science, but I felt overqualified and ill equipped as to how to take my next steps. Fortunately, after a lot of conversations, encouragement from loved ones and informational interviews, I stumbled upon the field of Regulatory Affairs. A combination of communication, leadership, project management and understanding policy, I felt I was starting to move in the right direction. I was working with people!

For over 6 years, I worked for both the Canadian government and the non-profit space dealing with regulations pertaining to natural health products.

It was upon meeting my husband and an impending move to New York City that I knew my time in that space had come to an end. It was time to find out how I could serve in line with my nature. Once again - I had no idea where to start. On my husband’s encouragement I pursued a coaching certification with Integral Coaching Canada, not with the purpose of becoming a coach, but to learn more about myself and equip myself with skills that would help me in whatever I would choose to pursue in the future.

Within 25 minutes of the certification, I knew. I had found my service.

At the same time, I was introduced to, and fell in love with the wisdom of the Enneagram, a personality framework that goes beyond behavior. It explains our motivations, needs and fears.

As for meditation, being raised in a family of meditators, the practice has always been a part of my life. It was over 15 years ago that I started my personal practice of 2 hours of mantra meditation daily. Over the past several years, I’ve invested significant time in learning other types of meditation and it came very natural to me to blend both coaching and meditation together as a service and offering to others.

My husband, Rasanath and I. Fun fact - he's also one of my Enneagram teachers.

The discovery of finding my purpose came with lots of fear of failure, worry and uncertainty. Over the years, as I’ve delved deeper into the fear, I’ve realized how it causes me to get in my own way - how it causes me to self-sabotage. When I’m aware of my emotional, mental and physical reactivity, I can act from a place of objective clarity instead of subjective reality.

This ongoing personal work has turned into my life’s work: helping women, couples/partners and women-led companies recognize and overcome their self-sabotaging tendencies.
